ROLL CALL
Mayor Manuel called the meeting to order at 8:21 p.m. All members of Council were present. All
members of staffwere present.
CODE AMENDMENT ALLOWING SHEDS WITHIN THE R-1 RESIDENTIAL DWELLING DISTRICT
Discussion took place concerning amending Chapter 45, Zoning, to allow detached sheds within the
R-1 Residential Dwelling District.
Mr. Knight noted that residents continue to request permission to erect detached storage sheds, which
are currently prohibited by Village code. Mr. Knight reported the Planning Commission discussed this
issue on 11/9/2010 and although generally supportive, expressed concern regarding waterfront lots and
requested that staffresearch how surrounding municipalities address this type of structure. Mr. Knight
reported that sheds are allowed in Juno Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. Mr. Knight requested
Council direction on whether to proceed with a code amendment to allow detached sheds.
Concerns were expressed regarding appearance and the ability to withstand hurricane-force winds.
Council consensus was to discuss the matter further, pending additional research from staff.

With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 8:31 p.m.
