A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA APPOINTING A CODE ENFORCEMENT
SPECIAL MAGISTRATE AND AN ALTERNATE CODE ENFORCEMENT
SPECIAL MAGISTRATE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on July 8, 2010, the Village Council adopted Ordinance 2010-09, providing for the
appointment of one or more Code Enforcement Special Magistrates to conduct code enforcement
proceedings in accordance with Chapter 162, Florida Statutes, and Article VI of Chapter 2 of the
Village Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, Village Administration issued a Request for Qualifications for Code Enforcement
Special Magistrate Services and received submittals from over thirty attorneys; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council wishes to appoint a Code Enforcement Special Magistrate and
alternate Special Magistrate to serve at the pleasure of the Village Council in accordance with
Section 2-174 of the Village Code of Ordinances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing "whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby appoints the following individuals to serve as Code
Enforcement Special Magistrate and alternate Special Magistrate (the alternate shall serve in the
event the Special Magistrate is unavailable or has a conflict of interest):
Special Magistrate: Thomas J. Baird
Alternate Special Magistrate: David W. Schmidt
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 22nd DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2010.
