07-21-1987 VC B WS-MMINUTES OF BUDGET' WORKSHOP SESSION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD Z[JISDAY, JULY 21, 1987 Present: Tom Valente, Mayor ' V. A. Marks, M.D., Vice Mayor Judy M. Piern:an, President Pro Tem Kenneth H. Mays, D.M.D., Councilman Craig Mundt, Councilman Raymond J. Howland, Village Manager Shaukat Khan, Finance Director Mayor Valente called the Budget Workshop Session to order at 7:00 ROLL CALL p.m. All members of the Council were present. The Village Manager and the Finance Director were present. We resumed with Public Safety Capital Purchases. PUBLIC SAFETY Under Account No. 66440: The console at $4328 was cut. The repeater radio system was approved. Under Cars: It was agreed to buy one now. Cars were cut to three, but later a fourth car was put back in the proposed budget. Fire Department: Councilman Mundt gave special praise for the fine work the department has done. Office Supplies: Cut $200. ' Machinery & Equipment: Cut $350. Batteries: Cut $100. Fire Chief's Car and the Hurst Jaws of Life: Remain in the budget. Motor Generator: Cut. Under EMS: The new Preventive Medical Services was left in the budget. Account No. 35290 - Medical Supplies: Reduced by $1,000. Account No. 66420 - Dishwasher: Put back in; $350. Account No. 66490 - Transthordic Pacemaker at $4200 was cut. Personnel: Two paramedics were authorized. Public Safety was authorized to add one detective which means moving someone up from the PSO ranks and hiring a new PSO. The future of this move depends on how the clearance rate on burglaries, etc. looks in the next 12 months. ' In Planning & Community Development: $22,500 was cut from PLANNING & Professional Services - Account No. 33190. pONA7UNITY SERVICE Under General Services: Account No. 35214 - This line item was cut from $10,200 to $3,700. W'e decided to remain with the "outside" lawn service. Facilities Maintenance: A custodian was cut at a proposed salary of $12,605. Finally, under that account the 3/4 truck purchase was approved. It was agreed that we would have Nancy Moore, Library Director, in at approximately 7:30 p.m. and Mark Hodgkins, Recreation Director, at 8:00 p. m. tomorrow night.
