A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MEDICARE ENROLLMENT APPLICATION
AND RELATED DOCUMENTS TO ACCEPT ASSIGNMENTS OF
MEDICARE BENEFITS FOR AMBULANCE SERVICES AND TO EXECUTE
A LETTER THAT THE VILLAGE SHALL BE LEGALLY AND FINANCIALLY
RESPONSIBLE IN THE EVENT OF ANY .OUTSTANDING DEBT; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village Public Safety Department wishes to execute an enrollment application
with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS") to enable the Village to accept
assignments of Medicare payments for ambulance services; and
WHEREAS, the Medicare enrollment application must be executed by the official to whom the
Village has granted the legal authority to enroll in the Medicare program and must be
accompanied by a letter attesting that the Village will be legally and financially responsible in
the event there is any outstanding debt owed to CMS for overpayments; and
WHEREAS, .the Village Council wishes to provide such authority to the Village Manager and
determines that the adoption of this Resolution is in the best interests of the residents and citizens
of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing `whereas" clauses are ratified and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby authorizes the Village Manager to execute the
enrollment application and related documents to enable the Village to accept assignments of
Medicare payments for ambulance services. The Council further authorizes the Village Manager
to provide a letter stating that the Village will be legally and financially responsible in the event
there is any outstanding debt owed to CMS relating to such payments.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
