09-08-1983 VC WS-MMINUTES OF WORKSHOP SESSION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1983 Present: V. A. Marks, M. D., Vice Mayor Craig Mundt, President Pro Tem Al Moore, Councilman Raymond J. Howland, Village Manager ' Herbert L. Gildan, Village Attorney Dolores R. Walker, Village Clerk Absent: Tom Valente, Mayor Harriet Nolan, Councilwoman Vice Mayor Marks called the Workshop Session to order at 8:35 ROLL CALL p.m. All members of the Council were present except Mayor Valente and Councilwoman Nolan. All members of the staff were present. There was a large contingent present at this meeting for the CONTINGENT purpose of addressing the Village Council concerning saving PRESENT RE and restoring the Winter Club. SAVING WINTER CLUB The following persons spoke in favor of restoring the Winter PERSONS WHO Club: SPOKE IN FAVOR OF Mrs. Donald Smith RESTORING 544 Overlook Drive WINTER CLUB ' Erik M. James 728 Trandwind Drive Erik was representing the younger generation to restore this landmark. He presented a petition containing the signatures of businesses and residents who want the building restored. Kathy Hecht Bowsprit Drive Charles Cowan 837 Cinnamon Road Margaret Reslock 111 Doolen Court Margaret Turney 533 Anchorage Drive Patricia Woods Marion 10th Street Lake Park, FL ' The following person spoke in opposition to restoring the Winter Club: James D. Smith 1200 Marine Way Vice Mayor Marks stated that they will take no votes tonight on NO VOTES TO BE restoring the Winter Club. TAKEN ON RE- STORING THE WINTER CLUB Minutes of Workshop Session Held Thursday, September 8, 1983 Page 2 1 i ~--, The group asked the Village Council to give them one year to get all their heads together to see if they could accomplish something to restore the Winter Club. Vice Mayor Marks replied that we cannot take any action at a workshop, and that we have discussed this for a long time. A discussion was held concerning a proposed resolution awarding bid to Heavy Construction for fill dirt at a price of $2.75 per cubic yard. This item will appear on the Regular Session Agenda of October 13, 1983. A discussion was held concerning a proposed resolution awarding bid to Delta Demolition for demolition of the Winter Club in the amount of $13,434. This item will appear on the Regular Session Agenda of October 13, 1983. A discussion was held concerning the proposed PBA contract for the period October 1, 1983.. to September 30, 1984. This item will appear on the Regular Session Agenda of September 22, 1983.
