AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUIRING
FENCING AROUND SWIMMING POOLS AND REQUIRING SAFETY GATES ATTACHED THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. A fence or screen enclosure, designed to prevent children

from inadvertently wandering into the pool, shall completely surround any
private swimming pool.
Section 2. The fence shall be a. minimum of four feet high, and
of such design, type a.nd location a.s a.pproved by the Building Official.
Section 3. All gates or doors opening through the fence or enclosure
shall be equipped with a. self-closing and self-1a.tching device designed and
capable of keeping such door or gate securely closed a.t all times when not
in a.etual use, and prevent any child from opening such door or gate. The door
of any dwelling forming part of the enclosure herein above required need not
be so equipped.
Section 4. The provisions of this Ordinance shall become effective
as to all existing private swimming pools sixty days from the date of passage
hereof.
Section 5. The Building Official is directed to conduct at least
a. yearly inspection of all pools to see if they comply with this ordinance.
Section 6. Any violation of the terms of this Ordinance shall be --
punished by a. fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars or imprisonment for a.
term not exceeding sixty days, or both such fine a.nd imprisohment. Each da.y
any violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall continue shall constitute
a, separate offense.
