A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
• PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES FEES CHARGED BY THE VILLAGE PUBLIC SAFETY
DEPARTMENT AND ADOPTING A NEW FEE SCHEDULE; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, as part of the budgetary process for the current fiscal year, the Department of Public
Safety reviewed the costs attributable to emergency medical services and compared the fees charged
by the Village to the fees charged by other providers; and
WHEREAS, while costs have risen dramatically, the Village's flat per transport fee of $450.00 has
remained unchanged since 2003 and is less than the average fee charged by other emergency
medical service providers in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Department recommends increasing the transport fee, increasing the mileage fee
from $7.00 to $8.00, and adopting amulti-tiered fee schedule consistent with other providers and
with the tiered fee schedules utilized for Medicare and Medicaid payments; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the adoption of this new fee schedule is in the best
interests of the residents and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby approves the following fee schedule for emergency
medical services rendered by the Village's Public Safety Department:
Basic Life Support (BLS) $495.00 per transport
Advanced Life Support Level One (ALS 1) $545.00 per transport
Advanced Life Support Level Two (ALS2) $600.00 per transport
Mileage $ 8.00 per mile
Section 3. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict. _
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
