A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATIVE
DELEGATION TO SUPPORT, DEVELOP AND INTRODUCE LEGISLATION
AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF THE STATE ADMINISTERED GROUP
HEALTH PROGRAM TO ALLOW PARTICIPATION BY LOCAL
GOVERNMENTS WHO ARE ALSO ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS IN THE
FLORIDA STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the task of obtaining adequate, affordable and continuing health insurance
coverage for employees of small municipalities has become increasingly difficult; and,
WHEREAS, the efforts of the Florida League of Cities to meet the needs of small
communities has been unsuccessful; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach supports the
introduction of Legislation allowing municipalities who are participants in the Florida retirement
system to also be participants in the Florida group health insurance program so as to equalize the
municipalities opportunities to provide reasonable, affordable and continuing health insurance
coverage for their employees.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
• Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, urges the

Florida Legislative Delegation to support, develop and introduce legislation amending the provisions
of the state administered group health program to allow participation by local governments who are
also active participants in the Florida State Retirement System.
Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to furnish certified copies
of this Resolution to members of the local Legislative Delegation, Florida League of Cities, Palm
Beach County League of Cities and such other governmental entities as the Mayor may direct.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
