RESOLUTION NO. 35-99
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO AUTHORIZE INSTALLATION OF A
TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF U.S.
HIGHWAY NUMBER ONE AND THE NORTH DRIVEWAY
ENTRANCE INTO THE NORTH PALM BEACH MARKETPLACE
SHOPPING CENTER SOUTH OF PGA BOULEVARD;
DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO SUBMIT COPIES
OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY; FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AND SUCH OTHER
PERSONS AND ENTITIES AS THE MAYOR DIRECTS;
AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the North Palm Beach Marketplace Shopping Center is
being constructed on U.S. Highway Number One ,just south of PGA
Boulevard, and the new construction warrants a traffic signal in
order to handle the congestion and increased traffic flow; and
WHEREAS, if a traffic signal is not installed, northbound
motorists leaving the shopping center will be forced to travel
south to the Old Port Cove intersection for a U-Turn, which
increases potential for traffic accidents.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section I. The Village Council of the Village of North
Palm Beach does hereby request the Florida Department of
• Transportation to authorize installation of a traffic signal at the
intersection of U.S. Highway Number One and the north driveway
• entrance into the North Palm Beach Marketplace Shopping Center
south of PGA Boulevard.
Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to
furnish copies of this Resolution to the Board of County
Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida Department of
Transportation, and such other persons and entities as the Mayor
directs.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
