RESOLUTION NO. 55-98
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA,
BESTOWING UPON THELMA OBERT THE TITLE OF
MEMBER EMERITUS OF THE NORTH PALM BEACH
LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Thelma Obert organized the Library Study Committee in
1961 to investigate community interest in establishing and
supporting a library within the Village of North Palm Beach; and.
WHEREAS, the Library Study Committee in 1963 became the North
• Palm Beach Library Society which devoted several years in bringing
to fruition a library within the Village of North Palm Beach with
Thelma Obert serving as president of the North Palm Beach Library
Society and presiding at the library dedication: and,
WHEREAS, Thelma Obert was appointed to the North Palm Beach
Library Advisory Board on January 17, 1979, and served on such
board for many years both as a member, vice-chairman and chairman
of the board; and,
WHEREAS, the meeting room of the library has been named the
"Obert Room" in recognition of the faithful and dedicated service
of Thelma Obert to the library and Library Advisory Board; and,
WHEREAS, Thelma Obert has been a symbol of the vision and
• dedication which built the North Palm Beach Library and a strong
supporter of its excellence and service to the community for many
years.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. In grateful recognition of the continued and
dedicated service and invaluable contributions to the Village
Library and Library Advisory Board, the Village Council of the
Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, does hereby bestow upon
Thelma Obert the title of Member Emeritus of the North Palm Beach
Library Advisory Board.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
