1998-029 Policy for Consent Agenda
RESOLUTION NO. 29-96
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A POLICY FOR ITEMS TO BE INCLUDED
WITHIN THE CONSENT AGENDA PORTION OF THE REGULAR AGENDA OF THE
VILLAGE COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR REMOVAL OF ITEMS FROM THE CONSENT
AGENDA BY VILLAGE COUNCILMEN; PROVIDING A PROCEDURE FOR ADOPTION OF
THE CONSENT AGENDA; PROVIDING FOR AN EXPLANATION OF THE CONSENT
AGENDA ON EACH REGULAR AGENDA; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. A consent agenda shall be placed upon the
regular agenda of the Village Council and shall include such
• reports, minutes, resolutions and other items of business for
Council approval as directed by the Mayor or Council.
S ion Prior to a vote being taken of the consent
agenda, any Councilman shall have the right upon request to remove
any items from the consent agenda and convey it to the regular
agenda.
G ion After Councilmen have had the opportunity to
remove items from the consent agenda, the Mayor shall entertain a
motion and second for adoption of the consent agenda as a whole.
The motion shall not be open to discussion.
Section 4. The following explanation of the consent agenda
• shall be placed immediately below the term "consent agenda" on each
regular agenda:
'The consent agenda is designed for the
• purpose of expediting issues considered to be
of a routine or pro-forma nature such that the
Council determines it is not necessary to
discuss and vote on each item separately. Any
member of Council may remove any item from the
consent agenda, which would automatically
convey that item to the regular agenda for
separate discussion and vote."
Section 5. There shall be an explanatory note placed
underneath Statements from the Public on agendas for regular and
special sessions advising the public that they may speak to any
item on the consent agenda and all matters not on the regular
agenda.
Section 6. This Resolution shall take effect immediately

upon its adoption.
