1998-026 Lake Park Telephone LitigationRESOLUTION 26-98 • A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING AND ENCOURAGING THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF C177ES TO AIll THE TOWN OF LAKE PARK IN THE INITIAL CASE TO DEFEND THEIR RIGHTS TO ENACT AND ENFORCE LOCAL CODES PROHIBITING THE PLACEMENT OF PAY TELEPHONES; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the cities of Florida are vested with Home Rule Powers which enable them to control those aspects of the quality of life of their residents; and WHEREAS, because of the large number of cities in the State, communication between the cities is often difficult; and WHEREAS, the League of Cities is in a position to aid individual cities on issues which will ultimately affect all cities; and WHEREAS, the Town of Lake Park is now involved in litigation regarding the ability of the city • to regulate the placement of public telephones, the outcome of which will have an impact on all cities. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BI?ACII, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach requests and encourages the Florida League of Cities to aid the Town of Lake Park in this litigation. Section 2.
