RESOLUTION NO. 48-96
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE METROPOLITAN
PLANNING ORGANIZATION TO RECOMMEND TO THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA,
THE FUNDING OF A COUNTY BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN
COORDINATOR POSITION AS A FULL-TIME CIVIL SERVICE
POSITION; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, afull-time County Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator position
is essential to the implementation of bicycle and pedestrian related plans and
programs and all related Issues with the Intermodal Surface Transportation
Efficiency Act (ISTEA);
. WHEREAS, the implementation responsibilities of the full-time County Bicycle
and Pedestrian Coordinator will require extensive and continuing interaction and
cooperation with County, State, Federal and other Community agencies;
WHEREAS, the continuing interaction and cooperation with the County,
State, Federal and other Community agencies will promote "bicycle and pedestrian
friendly communities".
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach,
Florida, does hereby urge the Metropolitan Planning Organization to recommend
to the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, that they
enact an ordinance establishing staff personnel to act in a full-time position of
• a bicycle and pedestrian coordinator.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon

its adoption.
