1993-055 Cable TV Rates Regulation1 RESOLUTION N0. 55-93 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO FILE AN APPLICATION WITH THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) TO CERTIFY THE VILLAGE TO REGULATE CABLE TELEVISION RATES AND PROVIDING FOR SERVICE OF SAID APPLICATION UPON THE CABLE TELEVISION OPERATOR DOING BUSINESS IN THE VILLAGE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, makes the following findings: A. FCC Cable television rate regulations went into effect on September 1, 1993; B. To protect cable television subscribers in the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, from excessive charges, it is advisable for the Village to obtain the power to regulate cable television rates for programming and equipment on the basic tier of cable programming; and C. An essential step in empowering the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida to regulate cable television rates is the filing of a FCC Form 328 with the Federal Communications Commission. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM J BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Mayor is authorized and directed to ' take all actions necessary to complete and file with the Federal Communications Commission a FCC Form 328 seeking certification for the Village to regulate cable television rates.
