SCOPE OF ENGINEERING SERVICES REQUIRED
I. Project Description
The village of North Palm Seach wishes to construct a
shoreline protection system adjacent to the municipally owned
public golf course which fronts on the south bank of the
Intracoastal Waterway on from the U. S. 1 bridge westerly
approximately 2,000 feat. Erosion of the bank in thi's area has
progressed over the last 15-20 years to the extent that it riow
threatens some major natural trees along the south shoreline and
has encroached into the play area of the golf .Course in this
area. continued progressive erosion could seriously damage the
vegetation in this area and the publicly owned golf course of the
Village of North Palm Seach.'
II. Preliminary Engineering Requirements
A. Prepare survey of site showing south property line and
shoreline of the Intracoastal Waterway and cross-sections from
ground level on the south side to a 6' depth in the waterway.
B. Soil borings suYficient to ascertain soil conditions in
proposed construction areas within the project limits.
C. Environmental survey including terrestrial plants and
animals as well as esturine plants and animals that would be
effected by the project.
D. Research previous investigations an$ studies of
conditions in this particular eras.
III. Conceptual Design
a. Investigate alternative protection methods including,
but not limited to, rip-rap protection, seawalls „ a combination
of seawall and rip-Yap, manufactured shoreline systems and other
potential protection methods.' Evaluate costs and effectiveness
of each alternative method.

b. Prepare preliminary plan and cross-sections of proposed
protection method• and preliminary ,details required for
permitting.
c. Prepare detailed cost estimates of proposed
construction.
d. Prepare design, permitting and construction schedule for
the project.
IV. Permitting and.approVals
Prepare and file application for FINA grant, and if approved
proceed with filing V. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Florida
Department of Environmental Regulation, Palm Beach County
Department of Environmental Resources Manaflement and other
required permits for the project.
V. Construction Plans and Contract Documents
Prepare detailed construction documents, including
construction drawings, contracts and related documents in
preparation for bidding and construction award for the project.
VI. Proposed Budget
