2009-08 Comprehensive Pay Plan Amendment• ORDINANCE 2009-08 AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE PAY AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009 AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2008-14 TO RECLASSIFY THE EXISTING POLICE LIEUTENANT POSITIONS TO POLICE CAPTAIN POSITIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Public Safety Department has outlined a plan to restructure the Police Division to create a clarified command structure and to improve the reporting and accountability process; and WHEREAS, this restructuring necessitates the reclassification ofthe existing Police Lieutenant positions to Police Captain positions to better reflect the current scope of their duties; and WHEREAS, the reclassification is a title change only and will not have any budgetary impact because the new Police Captain positions would utilize the existing pay structure for the Police Lieutenant positions; and WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the restructuring of the Police Division and reclassification of the Police Lieutenant positions is in the best interests of the heath, safety and welfare of the residents and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows: Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and correct and are incorporated herein. Section 2. The Comprehensive Pay and Classification Plan for the 2008-2009 fiscal year, as adopted by Ordinatice No. 2008-14, is hereby amended to reclassify the existing Police Lieutenant positions to Police Captain positions utilizing the existing salary ranges and step plan structure currently in place. Section 3. If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinances is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional, inoperative or void, such holding shall not affect the remainder of the Ordinance. Section 4. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. • Section 5. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
