A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING AND REQUESTING FLORIDA ATLANTIC
UNIVERSITY ESTABLISH A BRANCH CAMPUS IN THE NORTH PALM BEACH COUNTY
AREA; AND, DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO FURNISH A CERTIFIED COPY
OF THIS RESOLUTION TO SUCH GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES AND PERSONS AS
DIRECTED; AND, DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND VILLAGE MANAGER TO DELIVER
THIS RESOLUTION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS PUBLIC HEARING; AND,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida,
is considering the development of a North Palm Beach County Campus
in the vicinity of the City of Palm Beach Gardens; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Board of Regents is evaluating the impact
of locating a campus in the North Palm Beach County area; and
WHEREAS, North Palm Beach County does not have a major
university campus located in its geographic area; and
WHEREAS, the advent of a Florida Atlantic University Campus in
North Palm Beach County will enhance the cultural and educational
quality of life and fulfill the educational needs of the citizens
of the North Palm Beach County area; and
WHEREAS, Florida Atlantic University will provide bachelor
degree programs, graduate programs and specialty degree programs
such as engineering, medicine and law, and such programs will serve
to benefit the citizens of the North Palm Beach County area and, in
particular, the citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council fully supports and hereby
urges and requests that the Board of Regents favorably consider
locating a branch campus of the Florida Atlantic University in the
North Palm Beach County area.
Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to deliver
certified copies of this Resolution to all north county
municipalities and the Palm Beach County Commission; and that the
Mayor and Village Manager shall deliver a certified copy of this
resolution to the State Board of Regents at their public hearing in
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Monday, July 29, 1991.

' Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately
upon passage.
