Village Manager Albin Olson resignationFor almost two hours prior to the council's official acceptance, the chambers rang with plaudits, endorsements, pleas and sugges- tions for easing the job as village manager. Olson was of fered everything from a raise to a 14- week vacation if he would stay. The, meeting saw the largest atten8anc:e in the history of the i village. , Mayor Warren P. Tatoul last night told the public the council has discussed the resign ntion a length with Olson, in an attempt to make him reconsider. Ile said the efforts have been unsuccess- ful. Olson last night said he has no longer found A possible to cope with the attitudes and desires of many village residents. Therefore, his work is no longer enjoyable j and the best interests of the i village will be served by his res- Ii, ighation. Apparently the major avenue of dissension has been the operation of the country club, which opened about five months ago. Olson was made reponsible for the club's i operation in addition to his munic- ipal administrative duties. The council was taken to task for allowing Olson's jcb to become burdensome by adding the country club problems to his other duties. One woman said, "Let's return to our peaceful village by selling the country club." Her remark drew heavy applause. The council also drew fire last night for hurrying through the first and second reading of an ordinance appointing a seven -way advisory board for the club. The ordinance left the club manage- ment duties to the village manag- er. I . 4 , , Olsoli is a graduate of Florida I State University and holds' a master's degree in city manage- ment.
