Mr. Olson was appointed to the manager's position in 1956, after the village received a state charter but before anyone moved there. Prior to working for North Palm Beach, Mr. Olson had been the assistant manager of Port Ev- erglades and worked in the city managers' offices in Pensacola and Daytona Beach. After serving as village manag- er for six years, in a surprise move, he resigned in a letter to the Village Council. "It has been my privilege and pleasure for the past seven years to have been employed as the village manager of North Palm Beach," he wrote. "It has been most satisfying to have had a part in developing this community with the original planning." But Mr. Olson went on to say that he no longer enjoyed the job because his "philosophies of admin- lage man', ager istration had become ineffective." A graduate of Florida State University, Mr. Olson was also president of the North Palm Beach Lions Club.t Survivors include his Wife, Frances; one daughter, Karen Jones; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, at the Thom- as L. Price Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hos- pice of Palm Beach County.
