1989-40 Acknowledging Gordon LernerRESOLUTION NO. 40-89 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, ACKNOWLEDGING THS ACTIONS ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF 1 DUTY OF PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER GORDON LEANER, NORTH PALM BEACH DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH. WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety is a law enforcement oriented organization, offering services to the public at large; and WHEREAS, the area of Charleston County, South Carolina, was devastated by the effects of Hurricane Hugo during September of this year, causing many police officers of that area to lose homes and possessions and work extended tours of duty; and WHEREAS, Public Safety Officer Gordon Lerner, out of concern 1 for his fellow law enforcement officers in the Charleston County area, traveled to the Charleston area on his own time to deliver needed supplies to the law enforcement officers of the Charleston County area; and WHEREAS, Public Safety Officer Gordon Lerner performed law enforcement duties in the Folly Beach area of Charleston County voluntarily, to help relieve the overworked officers of that eight- man Department; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ABSOLVED BY THB VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH 1 PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the Mayor and Village Council of North Palm Beach take great pride and pleasure in acknowledging the actions above and beyond the call of duty of Public Safety Officer Gordon Lerner, giving of his own time to help fellow officers in their time of need, and representing the Village of North Palm Beach in such a commendable manner. section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage. ATTES Village Clerk
