ROLL CALL
Mayor Norris called the meeting to order at 9:45 p.m. All members of Council were present. All
members of staff were present.
ANCHORAGE PARK MARINA IMPROVEMENTS
Parks and Recreation Director Mark Hodgkins reviewed design options for the dock system on the
north side of Anchorage Park Marina. Mr. Hodgkins discussed the advantages and disadvantages
and costs for each option, including the current design for floating docks and alternate designs for
articulating floating piers or a fixed dock system that allows for the installation of boat lifts at the
lessee's option.
Mr. Hodgkins reviewed the budget and funding sources for marina improvements at Anchorage
Park, including two (2) grants. Mr. Hodgkins outlined requirements for utilities and installation
with each option and shared images and diagrams.
Discussion ensued regarding maintenance, upkeep, and life expectancy of the options.
Cal Gaston, 400 Inlet Road, commented that floating docks would be a lot easier for people to get
in and out of. Mr. Gaston stated that lifts were also a very good idea.
Tim Hullihan, 840 Country Club Drive, stated it was the consensus of the Recreation Advisory
Board to go with the floating dock system.
Discussion ensued regarding the safety of floating docks and potential issues with fixed docks and
rising sea levels.
Councilmember Searcy expressed concern regarding liability with the lift options. Discussion
continued regarding advantages and disadvantages of the options available.
Mayor Norris stated the consensus was to stick with the floating docks on the north side of
Anchorage Park Marina.
