A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 2006-97 AND
l REAFFIRMING THE VILLAGE'S SUPPORT OF AMERICAN MILITARY
PERSONEL THROUGH SUPPORT OUR TROOPS USA, INC.; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, through the adoption of Resolution No. 2006-97, the Village Council executed an
Agreement with America Supporting Americans to adopt a military unit; and
WHEREAS, since 2011, the Village has been coordinating its support of military personnel with Support
Our Troops USA, Inc., a non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status that has facilitated the adoption of
multiple military units; and
WHEREAS, the Village wishes to formally repeal Resolution No. 2006-97 and memorialize its
continued support of American military personnel through Support Our Troops USA, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the adoption of this Resolution is in the best interests
of the residents and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are hereby ratified and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby repeals Resolution No. 2006-97, thereby recognizing its
termination of the Agreement with America Supporting Americans through the Adopt -A -Unit Program.
Section 3. The Village Council reaffirms its commitment to support American military personnel
through coordinated activities with Support Our Troops USA, Inc. The Village Council authorizes
Village Staff to continue to act as a point of contact for donations and to facilitate community
involvement by requesting community volunteers to pack and send care packages and letters to the
troops. The Village Council further authorizes the use of Village facilities to assist in such efforts.
Section 4. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
