A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION
TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT OF A
FEASIBILITY REVIEW OF THE LANE REPURPOSING PROJECT FOR U.S.
HIGHWAY ONE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the concept of repurposing the travel lanes on U.S. Highway One was first introduced as
part of the Citizens' Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Village has been working with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council to
complete a traffic study and prepare general visual concepts to illustrate how a lane repurposing project
could be designed for the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") has requested that the Village submit
an application in November to conduct a feasibility study to allow sufficient time for review of the traffic
analysis, cost estimates and roadway configuration; and
WHEREAS, based on the recommendation of Village Staff, the Village Council determines that the
submittal of an application to FDOT to ,conduct a feasibility review is in the best interests of the residents
and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing "whereas" clauses are hereby adopted and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby approves authorizes the submittal of an application to the
Florida Department of Transportation to conduct a feasibility review of the lane repurposing project for
U.S. Highway One. The Council further authorizes the inclusion of Option 3-2 (standard bicycle lanes
and a twelve foot (12') shared use path for the core segment from Anchorage Drive North to Anchorage
Drive south and the transitions (four lanes in the core segment and five lanes transitioning to bridges).
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
