The club was originally called the Palm Beach Winter Club when it was opened in 1927. After changing hands through some of the area's most influential families (Singer, Kelsey, Oakes and Mac- Arthur) the club was sold to the Ross Brothers, who were the original developers of North Palm Beach. The "Winter Club" was finally sold to the Village of North Palm Beach in 1962. The North Palm Beach Country Club is a Village -owned and operated public recreational facility consisting of an eighteen -hole Jack Nicklaus "Signature" course. North Palm Beach Country Club represents only the second mu- nicipal golf course designed by Nicklaus. The renovation of the golf course began in April 2006 and was completed in November 2006. In addition, the club features ten lighted Har -Tru courts, an Olympic -size swimming pool and the Village Green Restaurant overlooking the golf course and pool. Much like the golf course renovations, The Village of North Palm Beach is beginning an exciting new project to reno- vate its tennis facility and tennis programs. A "Rebuild, Reinvigorate and Re -Launch NPB Tennis 2009" campaign is underway wherein the Village will inform the tennis -playing community of their plans to make NPB Ten- nis the area's premier tennis facility. RW-1 W_% -9 T W Wb ED U I LD The North Palm Beach Country Club's ten- nis facility is undergoing a much -deserved renovation. Re - cently, ground was broken on a new 1,700 square foot pro shop. Peacock and Lewis Architect Firm have designed a fabulous facility that includes retail space, a multipurpose room, locker rooms and "club" atmosphere. Beautiful viewing decks off the side and back of the build- ing will provide a great place for gathering, watching and cheering on your favorite player and NPB's teams. Perhaps even more impressive is that along with the new pro shop, the renovation will include ten refurbished light- ed Har -Tru courts, fencing, watering system, windscreens, water fountains, seating and landscaping. RI?IVVIGOR;1'Cli Kim L Tennis at exclusive country, club communities for over fifteen years, a USPTA Pro 1 -certified tennis profes- sional and now the Head Professional at NPBCC, is championing the "Rebuild, Reinvigorate, Re -Launch" campaign. Kim's proven background in programming and her results -orientated teach- ing style is already igniting the imagination of the lo- cal tennis -playing popula- tion. Players are excited to see what is happening at NPBCC and want to be a part of the "before and af- ter" journey. Kim and her qualified staff of professionals are of- fering a comprehensive, competitive, instructional, social and fitness tennis program for the coun- try club. Five new tennis teams (Al, A2, A4, Bl and B3) will represent the country club in the Palm Beach Country Women's Tennis Associa- tion starting in September. LISTA and Senior teams will be added in the fall, offering additional competitive match play for men and women. Franklin, a Director of Enthusiastic and inspiring tennis instruction is available daily. Exciting new programming, such as Cardio Tennis classes set to motivational music, add an element of fitness to the traditional tennis class. Also offered at the club is the comprehensive Anyone Can Excel (A.C.E.) Junior Academy, directed by Ron Rainyn. Rainyn brings over twenty years of teaching and pro -tour playing experience to the tennis program. A Florida native, Ron was fortunate to have learned from the best. He was coached by and worked for Jimmy Evert and also trained on scholarship at Nick Bollettieri's Tennis Academy. At Bolletieri's he discovered his calling — coaching tennis. He brings the same passion to the court as his idol Nick did. Ron's mission is to instill in players the same passion and dedication for ten- nis as Nick and Jimmy did in him. He is looking forward to promoting the lifelong game of tennis to the Village and surround- ing communities, as well as encouraging children of all ages to excel and reach their potential. Programs are offered now for the advanced players, inter- mediate players and for those who are just starting out or have always wanted to play. Daytime programs are bustling and evening and weekend programs are also available. During the school year, Ron offers classes after school for children 4 to 17 years of age. During the summer, the A.C.E. Sum- mer Camp will offer three options: tennis only; ten- nis and swimming; and the third option: golf, tennis, and swimming, which will only be offered one week of each month. Ron also teaches private lessons to adults and children. RE—LAUNCH The Grand Reopening is on track for September 2009.
