Mayor Norris called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. All members of Council were present, except
President Pro Tem Bickel, who arrived at 6:34 p.m. All members of staff were present. All members
of the Planning Commission were present except Tom Hogarth.
CODE REVISIONS
Bill Spikowski of Spikowski Planning Associates presented these items for discussion:
Authority of Planning Commission under a
new "site plan and appearance review" process
(replacing "certificate of appropriateness")
Planning Commission may grant certain
waivers and special exceptions
Planning Commission to begin serving as
the zoning board of adjustment
Revisions to the Village's "Appearance Plan"
as to architectural styles
New methods to specify which uses are
permitted in certain zoning districts
Renaming all commercial zoning districts
(to become more self-explanatory)
Changes to the current code's "similar use"
procedures
Revised landscaping code (incorporating
Northlake Blvd. landscaping code)
COUNCIL AND PLANNING COMMISSION DISCUSSION
Members of the Council and Planning Commission asked questions and offered suggestions.
CODE UPDATE WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Mr. Spikowski reviewed the tentative workshop schedule.
