1975-02 Publish General Election ResultsRESOLUTION N0. 2-75 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COllNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MARCH 18, 1975; NAMING THE TIME AND PLACE WHERE SUCH ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; APPOINTING THE ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION AND RUN-OFF ELECTION; DECLARING THE OFFICES TO BE FILLF,D AT SUC}{ ELECTION. WHEREAS, the Charter of the Village provides for a general election to be held on the third. Tuesday in March of each year; and WHF,REAS, there are two offices to be filled at the general e]ection to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March 1975; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORT}1 PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That a general election shall be held, and is hereby declared. to be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. ' on the 18 day of March, 1975, for the purpose of electing members to the Village Council to fill such offices in Groups 2 and 4 for a period of two years each. Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby ordered. and. directed to cause a notice of said election to be published in. the Palm Beach Post-Times once at least fifteen days prior to said. election. Said. notice shall be substantially in the following form: NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION MARCH 18, 1975 TO ALL QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, PALM BEAC}{ COUNTY, FLORIDA: By order of the Village Council of the Village of North Palm }leach, Palm Beach County, Florida, notice is hereby given that a general ' election will be held in said. Village on the 18th day of March, 1975, for the purpose of electing Councilmen for the following offices, to-wit: Village Councilman, Group 2 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 4 (2-year term) Said. election will be held in the Village of North Palm 13each, and. the polling places are designated as Faith Lutheran Church, Precincts 48 and 53; Council Chambers, Village Hall, Precinct 49; and Elks' Lodge No. 2069, Precincts 34, 50 and 52, all in the Village of North Palm Beach. The polls will be open in the voting places from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The following inspectors and clerks have been ' designated. and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting said. election: Faith Lutheran Church, Precincts 48 and. 53: Inspectors: Esther Bricker Faye Lucas Grete McBride Marye Allen Clerk: Elizabeth Redding Council Chambers, Vi11aQe Hall, Precinct 49: Inspectors: Barbara Hill Lillian Drudi Marshall Woodworth Jean Noell Clerk: Jane Jenkins Elks' Lodge No. 2069, Precincts 34, 50 and. 52: ' Inspectors: Ruth Brush Pearl Doran Mary Veckman Martha Schultz Barbara Nichols Gertrude Zentgraf Clerk: Louise Nash The above officials have also been designated and appointed. by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting the special run-off election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in March, 1975, if such be- comes necessary. The registration books will be open in the Village Clerk's office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and 2:00 p.m. to X4:30 p.m, on weekdays only up to and. including the 31st day of January, 1975. The Village Clerk, as registration officer of the Village, is hereby directed to prepare a list of the names of all qualified. electors appearing on the registration books of the Village, and she shall keep the registration books open at her office between t}ie hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - 2 - oii weekdays only up to and. including the 31st day of January, 1975, A certified list of such qualified. electors shall be furnished by the Village Clerk to the inspectors and clerks in charge of the polling places on the day of the election. Section 4. The inspectors and clerks of said general election ' to be held. on March 18, 1975 are hereby appointed as follows: Faith Lutheran Church, Precincts 48 and 53: Inspectors: Esther Bricker Grete McBride Faye Lucas Marye Allen Clerk: Elizabeth Redding Council Chambers, Village Hall, Precinct 49: Inspectors: Lillian Drudi Marshall Woodworth Jean Noell Barbara Hill Clerk: Jane Jenkins Elks' Lodge No. 2069, Precincts 34, 50 and 52: Inspectors: Ruth Brush Pearl Doran ' Mary Veckman Martha Schultz Barbara Nichols Gertrude Zentgraf Clerk: Louise Nash Said. officers are hereby directed to hold said election in accordance with the law and in such manner as to prevent all fraud, deceit and abuse therein or thereto and to make the returns of said election in the manner prescribed. by law. Section 5. The offices for which said candidates shall be elected. at the general election are: Village Councilman, Group 2 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 4 (2-year term) Section 6. The inspectors and clerks of the general election ' to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1975 are hereby designated to be the same officials to serve at the special run- off election, if such election is held. Section 7. The Village Clerk and election officials are - 3 - hereby directed. to arrange for the use of voting machines at said general election, and. the form of the ballot shall be such as is consistent with the use of voting machines. Absentee ballots shall be prepared by the Village Clerk in form consistent with existing Village ordinances. Section 8. Immediately after the closing of the polls on the said. election day, the inspectors and. clerks shall certify the returns thereof to the Village Council and the Village Council shall hold a meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th day of March, 1975, for the purpose of canvassing the returns and. declaring the results of said election.
