W}[ERF,AS, the Charter of the Village provides for a general election to be held on the third Tuesday in March of each year; and W}[};REAS, there are three offices to be filled at the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1971; NOW, THF,REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTf{ YAhM BEAC}I, FLORIDA: ~ Section 1. That a general election shall be held, and is hereby declared to be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. on the 16th day of March, 1971, for the purpose of electing members to the Village Council to fill such offices in Groups 2 and 4 for a period of two years each, and in Group 5 for a period of one year. Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to cause a notice of said election to be published in the Palm Beach Post-Times once at least fifteen days prior to said election. Said notice shall be substantially in the following form: NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION MARCH 16, 1971 TO ALL QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN THE VILLAGE OF NORT}{ PALM BEAC}{, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA: By order of the Village Council of the Village of North PaLn Reach, Palm Beach County, Florida, notice is hereby given that a general election will be held in said Village on the 16th day of March, 1971, for the purpose of electing Councilmen for the following ofi'ices, to-wit: Village Councilman, Group 2 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 4 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 5 (1-year term) Said election will be held in the Village of North Palm 1 Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No. 48: Inspectors: Esther Bricker Grete McBride Faye Lucas Virginia Tracy Clerk: F,lizabeth Redding Beach, and the polling places are designated as Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No. 48; Council Chambers, Village Hall, Precinct No. 49; and F,lk's Lodge No. 2069, Precincts No. .50 and 52, all in the Village of North Palm Beach. The polls will be open in the voting places from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. The following inspectors and clerks have been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting said election: Council Chambers, Village Hall, Precinct No. 49: Inspectors: Ralph Cohn Lillian Drudi Margaret Fick Mary Allen Clerk Jane Jenkins Elk's Lodge No. 2069, Precincts No. 50 and 52; Inspectors: Ruth Brush Thelma Wilson Jean Ford Millicent Walter Clerk: Louise Nash The above officials have also been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting the special run- off election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in March, 1971, if such becomes necessary. The registration books will be open in the Village Clerk's 1 office between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon and 2:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. on weekdays only up to and including the 5th day of March, ].971, and from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 6, 1971. The Village Clerk, as registration officer of the - 2 - J Village, is hereby directed to prepare a list of the names of all qualified electors appearing on the registration books of the Village, and she s}iall keep the registration books open at her office between the hours of 9;00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon and from 2:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. on weekdays only up to and including the 5th day of March, 1971, and from 9:00 A.M. to 1.2:00 Noon on Saturday, March 6, 1971. A certified list of such qualified electors shall be furnished by the Village Clerk to the in- spectors and clerks in charge of the polling places on the day of the election. Section 4. The inspectors and clerks of said general election to be held on March 16, 1971 are hereby appointed as follows: Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No. 48: Inspectors: Esther Bricker Grete McBride Faye Lucas Virginia Tracy Clerk: Elizabeth Redding Council Chambers, Village Hall, Precinct No. 49: Inspectors: Clerk: Ralph Cohn Lillian Drudi Margaret Fick Mary Allen Jane Jenkins Elk's Lodge No. 2069, Precincts No. 50 and 52; Inspectors: Ruth Brush Thelma Wilson Jean Ford Millicent Walter Clerk: Louise Nash 1 Said officers are hereby directed to hold said election in accordance with the law and in such manner as to prevent all fraud, deceit and a hose therein or thereto and to make the returns of said election in the manner prescribed by law. Section 5. The offices for which said candidates shall be elected at the general election are: Village Councilman, Group 2 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 4 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 5 (1-year term) Section 6. The inspectors and clerks of the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1971 are hereby - 3 - designated to be the same officials to serve at the special run-off clec- ti on, if such election is held. Section 7. The Village Clerk and election officials are hereby directed to arrange for the use of voting machines at said general ' election, and the form of the ballot shall be such as is consistent with the use of voting machines. Absentee ballots shall be prepared by the Village Clerk in form consistent with existing Village ordinances. Section 8. Immediately after the closing of the polls on the said election day, the inspectors and clerks shall certify the returns thereof to the Village Council and the Village Council shall hold a meeting on the 17th day of March, 1971, for the purpose of can- vassing the returns and declaring the results of said election.
