A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, ADVISING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, PALM BEACH COUNTY,
T1{AT A TAXING IMBALANCE IS DEEMED TO EXIST WITH RESPECT TO COUNTY TAXES
IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PAIM BEACH AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY
' COMMISSIONERS TO PROMPTLY PROVIDE SEPARATE AND LOWER MILEAGE RATE FOR
T}{E GENERAL COUNTY LEVY IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach
County, Florida provides many municipal services to the residents of
the unincorporated areas of Palm Beach County, including but not limited
to (a) public safety; (b) public works; (c) utilities; (d) planning and
zoning; (e) building department; and (f) recreation; and
W}[EREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County
does not provide these same services to the residents of the Village
of North Palm Beach; and
WF{EREAS, the Board of County Commissioners levies a general
County tax uniformly in the Village of North Palm Beach and the unincor-
porated areas of Palm Beach County; and
W}IEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Florida provides
t}~at properties situate within municipalities shall not be.subject to
taxation for services rendered by the Board of County Commissioners
of Palm Beach County exclusively for the benefit of the property or
residents in unincorporated areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
NORTH PALM BEAC}{, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council of North Palm Beach, Florida
hereby calls upon the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County
' to promptly and equitably provide for a differential and lower millage
levy for properties situate within the corporate limits of the Village
of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida.
Section 2. The Village Council of North Palm Beach, Florida
hereby calls upon the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County
to establish the differential and lower millage levy set forth in
Section 1 above based on the County services actually received by the
citizens and properties in the Village of North Palm Beach.
