1968-333 General Election and Charter Board Electioni RESOLUTION NO. 333-68 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MARCH 19, 1968; NAMING THE TIME AND PLACE WHERE SUCH ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; AND CALLING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD PllRSUANT TO CHAPTER 166, FLORIDA STATUTES, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A CHARTER BOARD BY THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH; ' DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF THE CHARTER BOARD ELECTION, AND SETTING FORTH PROCEDURES CONCERNING SUCH CHARTER BOARD ELECTION. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ WHEREAS, the Charter of the Village provides for a general emotion to be held on the third Tuesday in March of each year; and WHEREAS, there a.re three offices to be filled at the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1968; and WHEREAS, the Village Council, pursuant to the power granted it by Chapter 166,_ Florida. Statutes, deems it for the best interests of the citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach that changes be made in the form o£ the Village government; ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That a general election shall be held, and is hereby declared to be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida., between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:OD P.M. on the 19th day of March, 1968, for the purpose of electing members to the Village Council to fill such offices in Groups 1, 3 and 5 for a period of two years each. Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to cause a notice of said election to be published in the Palm Beach Post-Times once a.t least fifteen days prior to said election. Said notice shall be substantially in the _ following form: NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION MARCH 19, 1968 TO ALL QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA: By order of the Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, notice is hereby given that a general election will be held in said Village on the 19th day of March, 1968, for the purpose of electing Councilmen for the following offices, to-wit: r L Resolution No. 333-68 Page Two Village Councilman, Group 1 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 3 (2-yeas term) Village Councilman, Group 5 (2-year term) Said election will be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, and the polling places are designated as Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No. 48, and North Palm Beach Elementary School, Precinct No. 49, both in the Village of North Palm Beach. The polls will be open in the voting places from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. The_follow- ing inspectors and clerks have been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting said election: Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No. 48: Inspectors: Mrs. Melba Phillips Mrs. Faye Lucas Wi1.liam Woodard Mrs. Mary Woodard Clerk: Mrs. Elizabeth Redding North Palm Beach. The registration books will be open in the Village Clerk's office between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon and 2:00 P_M. to 4:30 P.M. on week days only up to and including the 8th day of March, 196$, and from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 9, 1968, and from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, the 29th day of February, 1968 and from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 7, 1968. The offices for which said candidates shall be elected a,t the general election a.re: Village Councilman, Group 1 (2-yeas term) Village Councilman, Group 3 (2-yeas term) Village Councilman, Group 5 (2-yeas term) Section 6. The inspectors and clerks of the general election to be held in the-Vi1la.ge on the third Tuesday in March, 1968, a.re hereby designated to be the same officials to serve at the special run-off election, if such election is held. Section 7. The Village Clerk and election officials are hereby directed to arrange for the use of voting ma.ch:ines at said general election, and the form of the ballot shall be such as is consists=_nt with the use of voting machines. Immediately after the closing of the polls on the said election da.y, the inspectors and clerks shall certify the returns thereof to the Villa.ge_Council __ and the Village Council shall hold a. meeting on the 20th day of March, 1968, for the purpose of canvassing the returns and declaring the results of said election. Section 9. An election shall be held for the purpose of electing a, Charter Board by the qualified electors of the Village of North Palm Beach, pursuant to Chapter 166, Florida. Statutes, in the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida,, between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. on the 19th day of March, 1968 to elect • nine members to a. Charter Board. Section 10. The Village Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to cause a. notice of said Charter Board election to be published in the Palm Beach Post-Times =- once each week for four consecutive weeks next preceding said Charter Board election, with the first publication thereof to be not less than 25 days prior to such election and also to post three copies of said notice of election at least 25 days before the election within the boundaries of t:he Village of North Palm Beach, including one at the Village Ha11 and in two other conspicuous places in the Village. Section 14. The Village Clerk and election officials a.re hereby directed to arrange For the use of voting ma.ch:ines at said Charter Board election, and the Form of the ballot shall be such as is consistent with the use of voting machines.
