1965-226 Appointment of Elected Officials RESOLUTION N0, 226-65 ' A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MARCH 16, 1965; NAMING THE TIME AND PLACE WHERE SUCH ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; APPOINTING THE ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE C~NERAL ELECTION AND RUN-OFF ELECTION; AECLARING THE OFFICES TO BE FILLED AT SUCH ELECTION, ~ _ ~ s ~: WHEREAS, the Charter of the Village provides for a general election to be held on the third Tuesday in March of each year; and • WHEREAS, there are four offices to be filled at the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1965; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1.. That a general election shall beheld, and is hereby declared to be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, FLorida, between the hours of 7:00 a.m, and 7:00 p.m. on the 16th day of March, 1965, for the purpose of electing members to the Village Council to fill such offices in Groups 2 and 4 for the period of two years ` and in Groups 1 and 3 for the period of one year, ' Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to cause a notice of said election to be published in the Palm Beach Post-Times once at least fifteen days prior ,.., election. Said notice shall be substantially in the following form: NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION MARCH 16. 1965 TO ALL QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA; By order of the Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, notice is hereby given that a general election will be held in said Village on the 16th day of March, 1965, for the purpose of eleciing Councilmen for the following offices, to-wit: Village Councilman, Group 2 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 4 (2-year term) ' Village Councilman, Group 1 (1-year term) Village Councilman, Group 3 (1-year -term) Said election will beheld in the Village of North Palm Beach, and the po3ling place ' is designated as the Village Senior Citizens Building adjacent to the Village Hall in the Village of North Palm Beach. The polls will be open in the voting place from 7:00 a,m. until ^:00 p.m. The following inspectors and clerk have been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting said election: RALPH J. COHN, CATHERYN MITCHELL, • SYLVESTER F. ZERNIKO, AND BETTY BEDDING, inspectors, and MARY JANE JENKINS, clerk. - 1 - • RESOLUTION N0. 226-65 Page-2- ' The above officials have also been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting the special run-off election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in March, 1965, if such becomes necessary. The registration books will be open in the Village Clerks office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and 2:00 P,M, to 4:30 p.m. on week days only up to and including the 5th day of March, 1965, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 6, 1965. • Frank Spence, Village Clerk PUBLISH: Palm Beach. The Village Clerk, as registration officer of the Village, is hereby directed to prepare a list of the names of all qualified electors appearing on the registra- Lion books of the Village, and he shall keep the registration books open at his office between the hours of 9:00 a,m. to 12:00 Noon and from 2:00 p,m. to 4:30 p.m. on week days only up to and including the 5th day c£ March, 1965, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on ' Saturday, March 6, 1965. A certified list of such qualified electors shall be furnished by the Village Clerk to the inspectors anal clerk in charge of the polling place on the day of the election. Section &, The inspectors and clerk of said general election to be held on March 16, 1965, are hereby appointed as Follows: RALPH J. COHN, CATHERYN L. MITCHELL, SYLVESTER F. ZERNIKO, and BETTY BEDDING, inspectors, and MARY JANE JENKINS, clerk. Said officers are hereby directed to hold said election on accordance with the law and in such manner as to prevent all fraud, deceit, and abuse therein or thereto and to make the returns of said election in the mamzer prescribed by law. • Section 5. The offices for which said candidates shall be elected at the general election are: Village Councilman, Group 2 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 4 (2-year term) ' Village Councilman, Group 1 (1-year term) Village Councilman, Group 3 (1-year term) Section 6. The inspectors and clerk of the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1965, are hereby designated to be the same officials to serve at the special run-off election, if such election is held. Section 7, The Village Clerk and election officials are hereby directed to arrange for the use of voting machines at said general election, and the form of the ballot shall be auch as is consistent with the use of voting machines. Immediately after the closing o£ the polls on the day of said election, the inspectors and clerk shall certify the returns thereof to the Village Council and the Village Council shall hold a meeting on the 17th day of March, 1965, for the purpose of canvassing the returns and declaring the results of said election.
