1962-140 Resolution of the Village Council of NPB Concerning Public Beaches RESOLUTION # 140 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM J BEACH, FLORIDA, CONCERNING PUBLIC BEACHES. ~~ WHEREAS, it has been reported that of the 1,016,36 miles of L usable sand beach on the Florida coast, only 309.62 miles, or less than one-third, are publicly owned; of such 309.62 miles, 114.5 are owned by the federal government, of which 52 miles are not open to public use; thus only 257 miles, or 25%, of Florida's sand beach are accessible to the public; and WHEREAS, the acquisition of additional public beach facilities is the joint responsibility of all levels of state government, including munici- palities, counties and the state; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County as well as Governor Farris Bryant':a Committee on Recreational Development each is pioneering in this field, and in the related field of recreational facilities development; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH FALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach does hereby commend the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, as well as Governor Farris Bryant and his Committee on Recreational Developnerit for their work and planning in this important project, and urges that both agencies intensify their efforts in this direction. 2. That the Clerk send copies of this resolution tti the Board of J ~J County Commissioners of Falm Beach County, to Governor Farris Bryant, and to [Nilliam R.
