A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA APPROVING AND RATIFYING
ADDENDUM NO. 2 TO THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
WITH THE PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERSTARAMEDICS OF PALM BEACH
COUNTY, LOCAL 2928, INC. TO ELIMINATE THE REQUIREMENT THAT
CANDIDATES FOR PROMOTION TO THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT BE
CERTIFIED AS A PARAMEDIC; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village of North Palm Beach and the Professional Firefighters/Paramedics of
Palm Beach County, Local 2928, IAFF, Inc. ("IAFF") have agreed to amend the current
collective bargaining agreement to remove the requirement that candidates for promotion to the
rank of Fire Lieutenant possess a current Paramedic certification and at least three consecutive
years of services as a protocoled Paramedic and instead only require a current EMT or Paramedic
certification; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the adoption of this Resolution is in the best
interests of the Village and its residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby approves and ratifies Addendum No. 2 to the
Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Village and the Professional Firefighters/Paramedics
of Palm Beach County, Local 2928, IAFF, Inc., a copy of which is attached hereto and
incorporated herein.
Section 3. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 26TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 2017.

ADDENDUM NO.2
to the
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
between
THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH
and the
PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS/PARAMEDICS OF
PALM BEACH COUNTY, LOCAL 2928, IAFF, INC.
WHEREAS, the Village of North Palm Beach (Village) and the Professional
Firefighters/Paramedics of Palm Beach County, Local 2928, IAFF, Inc. (Local 2928), have
agreed to no longer require candidates for promotion to the rank of Fire Lieutenant to be certified
and protocoled as a Paramedic; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the collective bargaining agreement (Agreement)
between the Village and Local 2928 in order to effectuate this change;
IT IS THEREFORE AGREED that the Agreement shall be amended as follows:
1. Article 34, Section 7(iii), of the Agreement shall be deleted in its entirety with the
following substituted in lieu thereof:
iii. Current EMT or Paramedic certification.
EXCEPT AS HEREIN AMENDED, THE AGREEMENT SHALL
