ROLL CALL
Vice Mayor O'Meilia called the meeting to order at 4:47 p.m. All members of Council
were present except Mayor Norris who arrived at 4:50 p.m. All members of staff were
present except Village Manager Dennis Kelly, who was on vacation, and Village Clerk
Kathleen Kelly, who was absent due to illness.
COST OF LIVING INCREASE FOR SERVICE AND BUSINESS WORKERS OF
AMERICA (SBWA) EMPLOYEES
President Pro Tem Eissey moved to authorize the Mayor and Village Clerk to sign a
Letter of Understanding approving a 2% cost of living increase to all SBWA (formerly
NAGE) employees, for the period 10/1/97 - 9/30/98. Councilman Vastola seconded the
motion.
During discussion, Labor Attorney Jim Cherof clarified that the 2% cost of living increase
is an adjustment to the base wage, and because it will continue beyond 9/30/98, the
Letter of Understanding lists a lump sum payment from 10/1/97 through the date of the
letter.
President Pro Tem Eissey moved to amend his motion to state that the increase would
be effective 10/1197. Councilman Vastola seconded the motion to amend, and all
present voted aye.
Thereafter, the original motion, as amended, passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 4:55 p:m.
