VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
HELD MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1996

ROLL CALL
Mayor Marks called the Special Meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at the North Palm Beach
Community Center. All members of Council were present except Councilman Vastola,
who was out of town. Also present were Village Manager Dennis Kelly, Pool Manager
Dick Cavanah, and Recreation Director Mark Hodgkins.
The purpose of the Special Meeting was to honor Gold Medalist Ryan Berube and the
Berube family.
Mayor Marks introduced Master of Ceremonies Jim Gallagher, who in turn introduced the
guests of honor.
Ryan Berube's swim career highlights, winning Olympic race and presentation of the
Olympic Gold Medal was shown by video.
Mayor Marks presented a Proclamation to Ryan recognizing Ryan's achievements and
designating September 9, 1996 "Ryan Berube Day" in the Village of North Palm Beach.
Mayor Marks also presented a Proclamation to Ryan's parents and sister, recognizing the
family's support.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at
6:40 p.m.
