ROLL CALL
Vice Mayor Valente called the Public Hearing to order at 7:00 p.m. All members of
Council were present except Mayor Marks who was recovering from surgery and
Councilman Vastola, who was out of town. All members of staff were present.
PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING. _
The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear the public concerning the proposed 1996-
97 operating budget, including the North Palm Beach Country Club.
Prior to hearing statements from the Public, Vice Mayor Valente announced the proposed
millage rate of 5.06, and stated it to be .05% less than the rollback rate of 5.0628. He
stated further that this year's millage rate of 5.06 is .8% less than last year's millage rate
of 5.10.
Vice Mayor Valente also announced a request by the Country Club Administrative Board
to include in the proposed Country Club budget for 1996-97 $45,000 for the tennis court
lights.
STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
Manny Grinn, 536 Greenway Drive, questioned various line items in the proposed budget
including the gas tank leak at the Country Club, redevelopment of Northlake Blvd, and
Fines and Forfeitures. Mr. Grinn also asked why, on page 18, the budget shows the
Village to be debt-free when the Country Club is $800,000 in debt, and is backed by the
General Fund.

TENTATIVE OPERATING BUDGET ADOPTED __
There being nor further comments from the public to be heard, President Pro Tem Kelley
moved that the tentative operating budget for Fiscal Year 1996-97 be adopted.
Councilman O'Meilia seconded the motion, and all present voted aye.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
