ROLL CALL
Mayor Marks called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. All members of Council were
present. All members of staff were present.
PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING
The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear comments from the Public concerning Bill
840, a proposed ordinance amending Subsection L(1) of Section 45-36, General
Provisions, of Article III of Zoning Code, which changes the distance requirements
between gasoline or oil filling stations or service stations.
COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
Warren Sands, representative fior the proposed Amoco station at the Twin City Mall site,
showed the proposed site plans to the Village Council. He said that they have conducted
market surveys in the area, including traffic pattern and traffic flow studies, and such
studies show that the demand is there. Mr. Sands indicated that Amoco is interested in
a fast start.
Dennis Koehler, Attorney, told the Council that the proposed Amoco site is approximately
300 feet from his client's Citgo station. He stated that current distance requirements do
not allow gas stations to be as close as the developer would like, and urged the Council
to reject the amendment.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further comments to be heard, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
