MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION
VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

Mayor Norris called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. All members of Council were present. All
members of staff were present, except Interim Village Manager Samia Janjua.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss candidates for the position of Village Manager and to select
candidates to be interviewed.
The Council reviewed the top five candidates as determined at its December 12, 2016 Special Meeting:
Gregory Dunham, Caryn Gardner - Young, Julian Jackson, Andrew Lukasik, and John Murphy.
A motion was made by Vice Mayor Bush to shortlist for interviews Andy Lukasik, Caryn Gardner - Young,
and Gregory Dunham. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Mullinix, and passed unanimously.
Discussion ensued regarding informal phone interviews between councilmembers and Village Manager
candidates, prior to face -to -face interviews. By consensus, this suggestion was approved, should
councilmembers wish to do so.
Discussion took place concerning the event schedule for Village Manager interviews. By consensus,
the Council agreed to conduct interviews on Friday, January 20, 2017 and Saturday, January 21, 2017,
if all three candidates are available; and if not, to conduct interviews on January 27 and 28, 2017.
Councilmembers advised they would consider interviews during the week, if necessary.
The following events were approved: bus tour of Village facilities and departments on Friday morning;
public reception to meet the candidates Friday evening at the North Palm Beach Country Club; special
meeting for public and Village Council interviews on Saturday morning in the Council Chambers,
followed by individual interviews between each candidate and councilmember. It was determined that
a separate meeting would be scheduled for Council to select its first and second choice for Village Manager.
With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
