A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF
$4,800.00 FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND FOR ASSET
FORFEITURES AND $240.00 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE
VILLAGE'S CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE PALM BEACH COUNTY
LAW ENFORCEMENT EXCHANGE PROJECT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, the Village must deposit all
proceeds from the civil forfeiture of real or personal property in a law enforcement trust fund
account, and such proceeds may only be used for law enforcement purposes unrelated to normal
operating expenditures; and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief has requested use of such monies to fund the Village's continued
participation in the Palm Beach County Law Enforcement Exchange ( "LEX ") information
sharing project for Fiscal Year 2016 -17 and has provided the necessary certification pursuant to
Section 932.7055(5), Florida Statutes, which also requires Village Council approval of all such
expenditures; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the requested expenditure complies with the
requirements of Section 932.7055, Florida Statute; and
WHEREAS, because the law enforcement trust fund does not contain sufficient monies to fully
fund the Village's participation in LEX, the Village Council authorizes payment of the remainder
of the funds from the General Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, hereby approves
the expenditure of $5,040.00 for participation in the Palm Beach County LEX project, with
$4,800.00 expended from the Village's law enforcement trust fund account for asset forfeitures
(Account No. A5714- 35420) and the remaining $240.00 expended from Account No. 5711 -35420
(Police — Membership and Dues).
Section 3.
