Mayor Marks called the Public Hearing to order at 7:03 ROLL CALL
p.m. All members of the Council were present.
The purpose of this Public Hearing is to hear the conu~zts PURPOSE OF
of the public concerni~'~ro the proposed 1980-81 operating PUBLIC HEARIIQG
budget.
There was no legal notice of this Public Hearing published. NO LEGAL NOTICE
The "TRIM" (Truth in Millage) bill stipulated that the NECESSARY FOR THIS
Palm Beach Cotnty Tax Assessor send out a Notice of Pro- PUBLIC HEARLNG
posed Property Taxes to every owner of real property in
the County. Therefore, it was not necessary for the Village
to publish legal notice of this Public Hearing in the news-
paper.
There was a large contingent of residents present at the CONAIQ9TS FROM THE
Public Hearing who did not understand the information PUBLIC
contained in their Notice of Proposed Proerty Taxes, v ,
particularly with regard to the millage rate. The
tax notice contained a tentative proposed ~x;,m,m mill-
age rate of 8.835 mills, which was based on the passage
of the $10,000 additional Homestead Exertion. However,
the Village millage rate has been set at 6.683.
Also, the majority of the public who were present did
not want to be taxed for capital improvements. They
preferred a bond issue, which the Village Council took
under consideration.
There being no further business to come before the Council, ADJOURNMENT
the Public Hearing was adjotm~ed at 7:25 p.m.
