09-17-1970 VC SP-MMINUTES OF TAX EQUALIZING BOARD MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1970 - ' Present: Thomas F. Lewis, Mayor Thomas R. Bell, Vice-Mayor Ronald B. Cadby, Councilman H. Mallory Privett, Jr., Councilman Herbert A. Watt, Councilman Herbert L. Gildan, Village Attorney Lawrence J. Robbins, Village Manager Frances A. Fox, Village Tax Assessor - IIolores R. Walker, Village Glerk Mayor Lewis reconvened the recessed meeting of the ROLL CALL ---- Tax Equalizing-Board held Monday,-August 24, 1970 at 7:40 p.m. and asked the Clerk to call the .roll, all members being present. Mayor Lewis stated that Article VII, Section 6, of the Village Charter, ratified July 30, 19fi8, directs the Council to sit as the Tax Equalizing Board, and that the legal notice for the initial meeting of this Board was published in the Palm Beach Post on July 12, 1970 and posted as required by Charter. ' Mayor Lewis stated that the Village Council was authorized to impose and collect real estate taxes under Florida Statute 167.43, and that the. criteria for placing improved property on the tax rolls is con- tained in Florida Statute 193.11, subparagraph 4. Clerk read legal notice of initial meeting of the Tax Equalizing Board.. Mayor Lewis stated that the Board did, in fact, meet on Monday, August 3, 1970; on Monday, August 24, 1970;- and that the Council is again sitting as a Tax Equal- izing Board on Thursday, September 17, 1970. There was one case for review of the Board; namely, Harry Robinson, Lots 3 and 4, Marina Addition, Apartment 7. Mrs. Fox, Village Tax Assessor, sent a letter to Mr. Robinson on September 15, 1970 advising him that the Council would sit as a Tax. Equalizing Board to review his case on September 17, 1970. Mrs. Fox sent a letter on August 25, 1970 to Mr. Warren Hunnicutt, President of Hunnicutt &: Associates, ' Inc., requesting that we receive a certified letter from them ascertaining that they are appraising con- dominiums in accordance with Florida Statutes. Mr. Hunnicutt replied to Mrs. Fox' letter on September 9, 1970 and stated that they were appraising in accordance with Florida Statute 711. A certified copy of Mrs. FoxT letter to Mr. Hunnicutt and his reply to Mrs. Fox will be attached to the minutes of this meeting. The Mayor then asked if there was someone ' present to plead the case of Mr. Robinson, and trhere was not. On motion of Councilman Privett, seconded by Council- man Cadby, all present voting aye, that Mr. Robinson`s request for a change in appraisal for Marina Addition, Lots 3 and 4, Apartment 7, be denied. On motion of Vice-Mayor Be11, seconded by Councilman Watt, all present voting aye, the Tax Equalizing Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:58 p.m. , NO REPRESENTATION FOR MR. The Village Council has requested that ws receive a CERTIFIED 1®tter from tho appraisers stating that they are appraising Condominiums in -line with Florida Statutes. That' are requesting this letter by return mail so that this homeowner may be notified in order for him to appear ones again at another Hoard of Equalization meeting ao that ws may resolve this problem as soon as possible. •This homeowner is Harrg K.
