VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
HELD
TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 1970
Present: Thomas F. Lewis, Mayor
Thomas R. Bell, Vice-Mayor
Ronald B. Cadby, Councilman
H. Mallory Privett, Jr., Councilman
Dolores R. Walker, Village Clerk
Absent: Allan V. Everard, Councilman
Herbert A. Watt, Councilman
Mayor Lewis called the Special Meeting to order at ROLL CALL
8:20 p.m. and asked the Clerk to call the roll, all
members being present except Councilman Everard and
Councilman Watt.
Mayor Lewis stated that the purpose of the meeting PURPOSE OF
was to constitute the Council as the official Runoff MEETING
Election Canvassing Board for the purpose of can-
vassing the vote of March 24, 1970, under the pro-
visions of the Village Charter and Section 56 of Ord-
inance No. 42.
Council inspected the Statement of Canvass-for the INSPECTION OP
Runof:E Election on March 24, 1970 for Precinct Nos. STATEMENT OF
48, 49, 50 and 52. CANVASS
' Mayor Lewis instructed the Clerk to incorpdrate in MACHINE
these minutes that it is noted on the tally sheet for #146069.,
Precinct No. 48 that Voting Machine No. 146069 jammed PRECINCT N0.
and necessitated a repair, which was verified by the 48, JAMMED
Precinct Clerk and attested by the Village 'Clerk and & NECESSITATED
so noted on the tally sheet for Precinct No. 48. REPAIR
Clerk read the official tabulation of machine votes CLERK READS
cast in the Runoff Election on March 24, 1970 and TAB OF MACHINE
these are as follows: VOTES
Village Councilman, Group 1:
Ronald B. Cadby 1099 votes
A11an V. Everard 372 votes
Following the tabulation of machine votes, Council pro- ABSENTEE BALLOTS
ceeded to open the absentee ballots which had been COUNTED
received in the Clerks office. Clerk then read a
total for each candidate as follows:
Village Councilman, Group l:
' Ronald B. Cadby 1108 votes
Allan V. Everard 373 votes:
Total machine votes cast - 1471
Total absentee ballots - 10
On motion of Councilman Privett, seconded by Vice-Mayor RES. N0.
Bell, all present voting aye, proposed Resolution No. 433-70

A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE
RUNOFF ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 24, 1970
was read in full and adopted as read as Resolution No.
4GF3-70.
Clerk administered Oath o£ Office for newly elected
Councilman, Ronald B. Cadby, as required by Article
III, Section 5, of the Village Charter. This oath
shall be spread upon the minutes of the.Council.
Clerk administered Loyalty Oath as required by
Florida Statutes 876.05, 1965 for Councilman Cadby
Councilman Cadby, after taking and subscribing his
oaths in accordance with law, became an official
member of the Council and participated in the balance
of the meeting.
Mayor Lewis stated that Council will reorganize on
Thursday, March 26, 1970.
Mayor Lewis instructed the Clerk to incorporate in
these minutes that the returning incumbent, H.
Mallory Privett, Jr., and newly elected Councilman
Ronald B. Cadby, are to be commended for the manner
in which 'they conducted themselves during the recent
Village elections.
There being no further business to come before the.
Special Meeting of the Village Council, sitting as the
official Election Canvassing Board, on motion of Vice-
Mayor Bell, seconded by Councilman Cadby, all present
voting aye, the meeting was adjourned at 8;52 p.m.
