08-03-1970 VC SP-MMINUTES OF TAX EQUALIZING BOARD MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 1970 1 1 ~l Present: Thomas F. Lewis, Mayor Thomas R. John Chilton, Hunnicutt & Associates, Inc. Dolores R. Walker, Village Clerk Absent: Herbert A. Watt, Councilman Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order at 8.00 p.m. ROLL CALL and asked the Clerk to call the roll, all members being present except Councilman Watt. Mayor Lewis stated that Article VII, Section 6,. PURPOSE OF_THE of the Village Charter, ratified July 30, 1968, BOARD directs the Council to sit as the Tax Equalizing -- Board of the Village to hear all pleas for and against assessments on all properties, and that the purpose of the Board is not to raise or lower assess- ments, but to equalize them. The Clerk was instructed by Mayor Lewis, as a matter NOTICE OF TAX of public record, to read the notice of Tax Equalizing EQUALIZING BD. Board Meeting which was published in the Palm Beach MEETING Post on July 12, 1970 and posted as required by Charter. The Clerk was also directed by Mayor Lewis to include in the minutes of this meeting that the authorization for the Village to impose and collect real estate taxes is granted under Florida Statute 167.43. Also, the criteria-for placing improved property on the tax rolls is contained in Florida Statute 193.11, subparagraph 4.. Mayor Lewis advised the Council and the public of the following real property valuations of the Village for 1970: Total Assessments Prior to any Adjustments - Gross Homestead Exemptions Widows' & Disability Exemptions Exempt Properties Total Net Assessed Valuation $ 95;456,251.00 11,310,416.00 55,500.00 4,gJ1,001.00 79,619,334.00 FLA. STATUTES AUTHORIZING VILLAGE TO IMPOSE & COLLECT REAL ESTATE TAXES REAL PROPERTY VALUATIONS FOR 1970 Minutes of Tax Equalizing Board Meeting Held Monday; August 3, 1970 Page 2 ~J Mr. David Stuart, 823 Country Club Drive, Block 8, Lot 21, Country Club Addition, presented a plea to the Board for a reduction in his appraisal. His property is currently appraised at $52,580. Mr. John Chilton of Hunnicutt & Associates, Inc. advised Mr. Stuart that he would again check the calculations on this property, and Mr. Stuart is meet with Mr. Chilton and Mr. Seiple at 8:15 a.m. on August 4, 1970 in the Village Ha11. Mr. Harry Robinson, 136 Yacht Club Drive, Lots 3 and 4, Marina Addition, Le Province Condominium, Apartment 7, presented a plea to the Board for a reduction in his appraisal. His property is currently appraised at $22,650. On motion of Councilman Privett, seconded by Councilman Cadby, all present voting aye, that we defer consideration of Mr. Robinson~s request for a review of his appraisal to our reconvened meeting of August 24, 1970. APPRAISAL OF BLOCK 8, LOT 21, CC ADDN., TO BE CHECKED BY HUNNICUTT & ASSOCIATES, INC. APPRAISAL OF LOTS 3 & 4, MARINA ADDN., TO BE REVIEWED AT RECONVENED MEETING OF AUG. 24 Mrs. Alma Lemke, Village Gardens Apartments, APPRAISAL OF UNIT Unit 106D, 415 U. S. Highway No. 1, presented a 106D, VILLAGE plea to the Board for a reduction in her appraisal. GARDENS APTS., Her property is currently appraised at $11,730._ REMAINS UNCHANGED On motion of Councilman Privett, seconded by ' Councilman Cadby, all present voting aye, .that appraisal of Unit 106D in Plat 1, Lot 1, Block 1, Building D, Village Gardens Apartments, owned by Mrs. Alma Lemke, remain unchanged. Mr. E. L. Boyd, Village Gardens Apartments, Unit APPRAISAL OF UNIT 1OlD, 415 U. S. Highway No. 1, presented a plea lO1D, VILLAGE to the Board for a reduction in his appraisal. GARDENS APTS., His property is currently appraised at $16,190. REMAINS UNCHANGED On motion of Vice-Mayor Bell, seconded by Council- ,_ man Cadby, all present voting aye, that appraisal of Unit 101, Plat 1, Lot 1, Block 1, Building D, Village Gardens Apartments, remain unchanged.
