AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2,
"ADMINISTRATION," ARTICLE III, "ADMINISTRATIVE CODE," OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING DIVISION 5 TO
ELIMINATE THE REFERENCE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW
ENFORCEMENT AND TO AMEND SECTION 2 -76, "COMPOSITION," TO
ALLOW MODIFICATION OF THE DIVISIONS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT;
PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Village Administration recommends amending Division 5 of Article III,
"Administrative Code," of Chapter 2, "Administration," of the Village Code of Ordinances to
eliminate the reference to the Department of Law Enforcement, allow flexibility in the composition
of the divisions within the Department, and recognize the elimination of the communications
component; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the adoption of this Ordinance is in the best
interests of the residents and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and correct and are incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby amends Article III, "Administrative Code," of Chapter 2,
"Administration," of the Village Code of Ordinance by amending Division 5 to read as follows

Sec. 2-76. Composition.
(a) Generally. The police department shall be composed of the
following divisions, each of which is commanded by a police captain: operations
and operations support.
(b) Operations division. The operations division consists of four (4)
road patrol squads, each supervised by a patrol sergeant. Eaeh day squad

such holding shall not affect the remainder of the Ordinance.
Section 5. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
