A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING A SUCCESSOR TO FILL
A VACANCY ON THE VILLAGE COUNCIL ON AN INTERIM BASIS; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, due to the passing of Councilman William L. Manuel on February 21, 2015, the office
of Council member for Group 5 is currently vacant; and
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 5(c) of the Village Charter provides that if there are more than 6
months remaining in the unexpired term, the Council shall by a majority vote of the remaining
members fill the vacancy on an interim basis and schedule a special election to be held not sooner
than 60 days nor more than 90 days following the occurrence of the vacancy; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council wishes to fill the vacant seat on the Village Council on an interim
basis until such time as a new Council member is elected for Group 5 in accordance with the Village
Charter requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby appoints the following person to serve as a member
of the Village Council on an interim basis until the newly elected Council member for Group 5 is
qualified by special election:
Judy M. Piennan
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
