Nancy Fant MOORE(1928-2014) w£3M_ MOORE,Nancy Fant (November 30,1928 to June 19,2014)Nancy F.Moore of North Palm Beach,Florida,retired former Director of the North Palm Beach Public Library,passed away Thursday in her home with her daughter by her side.She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years,Alvin C.Moore,a former Councilmember and Mayor of North Palm Beach,her two sons,Charlie and Mike,and her sister Peggy LaFoy.Nancy is survived by her devoted daughter,Lisa(Brian)Joslyn,grandchildren John(Jennifer)Byrn,Michael Joslyn, Jessica Moore and Kristen LeMaster,great-grandchildren Abbigail,Emily,Jack and Kayden,and sisters Julia Anne Young and Christine Marett,along with innumerable nieces,nephews and their children.Atrue daughter of the South,Nancy kept a life-long connection to her birthplace,Anderson,SC.She was a proud member of the DAR and could trace her family back to a distant cousin of George Washington.Several more"recent"forebears served in South Carolina's regiments in the War Between the States.Nancy's connection to Florida began in 1957 when Pratt Whitney transferred AI to Florida to assist in the opening of its new facility and they moved to the area.Other than her family,Nancy's proudest achievement was her work at and for the North Palm Beach Public Library.When she began as a volunteer in 1962,it was little more than a donation Library.Over the next 42 years, she rose to be its Director and served in that position for many years.In 2006,Nancy's dedication and service were recognized when the North Palm Beach Village Council adopted a Resolution naming the Library after her.Her impeccable manners and easy Southern charm made friends of all who made her acquaintance,hundreds of whom showed up to the celebration in her honor. Nancy and AI(with family and without)were inveterate travelers.Together they saw 49 states(Michigan the exception),most of the National Parks and a number of foreign countries.In 1999,AI and Nancy traveled to Normandy where AI had served in the Navy on D-Day.She saw the Pyramids before she passed.She loved Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.She loved and treasured her friends who are too numerous to mention,Gene and Maryanne Foster and Frances Warwick,excepting.She was an amazing mother, fantastic in-law,awesome grandmother,caring great-grandmother and loving sister.She lived,despite the tragedy in her life,with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.She was a gentle soul who always had a kind word.There will be a private service at a later date.The family asks that in lieu of flowers,donations be made in Nancy's name to the North Palm Beach Public Library,303 Anchorage Drive,North Palm Beach,Florida 33408 or the Library at St.Mark's Episcopal School,3395 Burns Road,Palm beach Gardens,Florida 33410.To express online condolences visit www.tayloiandmodeen.com To express condolences and/or make donations:Visit PaImBeachPost.com/obituaries Published in The Palm Beach Post from June 22 to June 23,2014 1 of 1 6/23/2014 3:21 PM
