MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION
VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
JANUARY 12, 2012

Mayor Aubrey called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All members of Council were present. All
members of staff were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to appoint an interim council member to serve until a successor
is elected to the Group 2 seat vacated by T.R. Hernacki.
Mayor Aubrey named Dr. Edward Eissey, Judy M. Pierman, and Tom Magill as the candidates
contemplated for appointment, all three being well qualified to serve in this capacity. Mayor
Aubrey reported that Mr. Magill had withdrawn his name from consideration.
Mrs. Pierman addressed the Council and offered her services to help with a candidate forum,
village manager search, or in whatever capacity might be needed. Mrs. Pierman expressed that
at this time, she was not seeking a Council appointment. Mrs. Pierman spoke of her high regard
for Dr. Eissey and commended his service to Council and community. Mrs. Pierman noted
Mr. Magill's dedication, his work on the Charter and budget, and continual efforts to make the
Village a great place to live.
Dr. Eissey addressed the Council and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
Vice Mayor Norris noted the years of service given by these stellar pillars of the community and
thanked them for the benefit of their wisdom and grace.
RESOLUTION 2012 -01 — APPOINTMENT TO FILL COUNCIL VACANCY
Vice Mayor Norris nominated Dr. Eissey to fill the council vacancy. Councilman Gebbia
seconded the nomination and all present voted aye.
A motion was made by President Pro Tem Manuel, seconded by Vice Mayor Norris, and
unanimously approved to adopt Resolution 2012 -01 entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING A SUCCESSOR TO FILL A VACANCY ON THE
VILLAGE COUNCIL; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
