04-14-1993 VC SP WS-MMINUTES OF SPECIAL WORKSHOP OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 1993 Present: V. A. Marks, M. D., Mayor Gail H. Vastola, Vice Mayor Tom Valente, Councilman Judy M. Pierman, Councilman Dennis W. Kelly, Village Manager Absent: Jeffrey H. Atwater, President Pro Tem ROLL CALL Mayor Marks called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. All members of Council were present except President Pro Tem Atwater, who was out of town. The purpose of the meeting was to establish goals for the 1993-94 Fiscal Year. The following goals were presented by the Council: Councilman Valente: 1. Manned substation north of Parker Bridge 2. Slurry seal of Village streets 3. Update of space study (existing Village facilities) 4. Master recreation study Councilman Pierman: 1. Maintenance: buildings (Village Hall, Community Center); roads (slurry seal) Vice Mayor Vastola: 1. Village Hall beautification (professional paint job, new curtains in Council Chambers) encompassing Village Space Study 2. Acquire property at Anchorage Park (Schwenke property) from Council Contingency this year, if possible 3. Better communication with the Public Safety Department, and the employees 4. Sign for Community Center, displaying in advance events scheduled Mayor Marks: 1. Space Study and possible purchase of property (duplexes adjacent to Village Hall) 2. Recreation Study 3. Proceed with study of Portage Landing annexation 4. Supports previously stated goals of Master Recreation Study, Public Safety Substation, Maintenance programs for buildings and slurry seal, and Public Safety personnel communication. Village Manager Dennis Kelly reviewed the status of goals set last year for the current fiscal year. Apartments in the Benjamin School vicinity, which may be sold, should be considered for possible use as a Public Safety Substation. Prioritization of the aforementioned goals will be established at a Special Workshop scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 1993, prior to Regular Session.
