03-19-1980 VC SP-M1 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 1980 Present: W. H. Brown, Mayor Donald J. Kazimir, Vice Mayor Patsy B, Love, President fro Tem Al Moore, Councilman Paul J. Nicoletti, Village Manager Dolores R. Walker, Village Clerk Cheryl S. Collins, Deputy Village Clerk Absent: Dr. V. A. Marks, Councilman Mayor Brown called the Special Meeting to order at ROLL CALL 7:03 P. M. All members of the Council were present except Councilman Marks. The purpose of this meeting is to constitute the Council PURPOSE OF as the official General Election Canvassing Board for MEETING the purpose of canvassing the vote of March 18, 1980 in accordance with Section 10-25 of the Village Code, The official tabulation of machine votes cast in the General Election of March 18, 1950 are as follows: Village Councilman, Group l: Al Moore Jean Atherton Village Councilman, Group 3: Harriet Nolan 1128 votes Margaret Turney 813 votes Village Councilman, Group 5: Tom Valente Paul Norcio 1477 votes 494 votes 1560 votes 373 votes Vice Mayor Kazimir moved that two questionable absentee ballots (one had been signed but had not been witnessed and one had been witnessed but had not been signed) be counted as non-valid. The motion was seconded by President Pro Tem Love and failed 2-2, with Mayor Brown and Vice Mayor Kazimir for and Councilman Moore and President Pro Tem Love opposed. The Council then proceeded to open the absentee ballots which had been received in the office of the Village Clerk. There were 48 absentee ballots counted. The total for each candidate then read as follows: Village Councilman, Group l: 1 Al Moore Jean Atherton 1510 votes 508 votes Village Councilman, Group 3: Harriet Nolan 1151 votes Margaret Turney 838 votes Village Councilman, Group 5: Tom Valente Paul Norcio 1595 votes 383 votes TABULATION OF MACHINE VOTES MOTION REGARDING ABSENTEE BALLOTS FAILED 2-2 ABSENTEE BALLOTS COUNTED . . On motion of Vice Mayor Kazimir, seconded by President Pro Tem Love, all present voting aye, proposed Resolution No. 15-80 entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCII~ OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 18, 1980 was read in full and adopted as read as Resolution ' No. 15-80. The Village Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Councilman Moore, who had been re-elected, and to newly elected Councilwoman Harriet Nolan and Councilman Tom Valente. These oaths are in accordance with Article V, Section 2-41 of the Village Code, and shall be spread upon the minutes of the Council. RES.
