07-22-1958 VC REG-M• MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF CF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH HELD AT THE NORTH PALM BEACH COUNTRY CLUB JULY 22, 1958 Present: Richard E. Ross, Mayor Charles A. Cunningham, Councilman John A. Schwencke, Councilman Wallis Schulle for C. Robert Burns, Village Attorney Albin R. Olson, Village Manager Village Clerk Absent: Jay H. White, Vice-Mayor ' Herbert A. Ross, Councilman Mayor Ross called the meeting to order and requested the Village Clerk call the roll. • Mayor Ross requested the Village Clerk read the minutes of a regular meeting of the Village Council held on June 24, 1958. On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Councilman Cunningham, all members voting aye, the minutes were approved as read. Mayor Ross requested the Village Clerk read the minutes of a Special Meeting of the Village Council held on July 8, 1958, for the purpose of considering applications submitted for appointment to fill the vacancy o£ Building Official. On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Councilman Cunningham, all members voting aye, the minutes were approved as read. The Village Clerk read a letter dated July 15, 1958, received from the South-Eastern Underwriters Association thanking the village government for the courtesies and cooperation extended their Municipal Engineers during recent inspections of the village fire defenses. ' A letter dated July 21, 1958 was received £rom the North Palm Beach Lions Club thank- ing the village government for its cooperation and assistance at the organization's Fourth of July Gating was read by the Village Clerk. On motion of Councilman Cunningham, seconded by Mayor Ross, the following report of the Village Treasurer was approved: TREASURER'S REPORT July 22, 1958 CASH ON HAND, June 24th, 1958 ADD: Permits 674,60 • Occupational Licenses 176.25 Individual Registrations 13.50 Dog Licenses 4.00 Borrowed-Riviera Bch. Bk, 5,000.00 DEDUCT: Disbursements June 24th, 1958 - July 22nd, 1958 BALANCE, July 22nd, 1958 ~4,518.1y 5 868.35 10,386.54 6,186.4.8 X4,200.06 On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Councilman Cunningham, all members voting aye, a proposed resolution No, 44 entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL 4F TIC VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING WALLACE G. CARVER TO SUCCEED L. E. DICKERSON AS BUILDING, ELECTRICAL AND PLIIP~ING INSPECTOR OF SAID VILLAGE was adopted. n u n Minutes July 22, 1958 Page #2. On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Councilman Cunningham, all members voting aye, a proposed ordinance #34 entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, ANNEXING CERTAIN LANDS was placed on first reading and read in full.. The Village Manager read and distributed to the Council the Statistical Bata Report fox the month ending June 30, 1958. The Village Manager reported the results of a survey made of village residents to determine their wishes concerning the need for excluding door-to-door solicitors from the village. Approximately 200 resident homes were surveyed. Of this number, 24 families were in favor of prohibiting door-to-door solicitation within the village; 4 families favored the present law. No replies were received from the remaining 172 families. Based on the results of the survey, the Village Council determined there was insufficient interest at this time to warrant amending the present ordinance. On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Councilman Cunningham, all members voting aye, the list of accounts payable submitted was approved for payment.
