MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF
THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH
HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL COUNCIL CHAMBER
ON MAY 13, 1957, AT 3:00 P,M,

The minutes of a regular meeting held April 8, 1957, at 3:00 p.m.
in the Village Hall Council Chamber were approved on motion of Councilman
Schwencke, seconded by Vice Mayor Ross, all members voting aye.
• Councilman Schwencke requested the matter of a report proposing
a surety arrangement whereby the Village be assured the construction of streets
dedicated to the Village would be performed in accordance with previously set
specifications be held in abeyance for further study,
Councilman Schwencke reported a survey underway of the costs of
facilities used by the village government within the Village Hall. The
results of the survey are to be used in setting a rental fee for the use of
these facilities.
On motion of Councilman White, seconded by Vice Mayor Ross, all ---
members voting aye, the Following report of the Village Treasurer was approved:

Mayor Cunningham read a letter dated May 7, 1957, received from Mrs.
Irwin Levy, 417 Driftwood Road, commending the prompt action of the Village
police in response to a call to her home on the night of May 7, 1957.
On motion of Councilman White, seconded by Vice Mayor Ross, all
members voting aye, proposed Ordinace #16 entitled
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALP4 BEACH, FLORIDA, DEFINING THE LIMITS
OF A BULKHEAD LINE IN LAKE WORTH
was placed on first reading and read in full.
On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded byVice Mayor Ross, all
members voting aye, proposed ordinance #15 entitled
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE ORGANIZATION
OF A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
as amended was placed on second reading and read, as amended, in full.

• On motion of Vice Mayor Ross, seconded by Councilman Schwencke,
all members voting aye, Ordinance X16 (See Ordinance Book ~l, page 46) entitled
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE ORGANI-
' ZATION OF A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
was enacted.
The mattes of requiring all contractors and subcontractors employed
within the village to be registered contractors was discussed. It was decided
to hold the matter in abeyance pending completion of a Palm Beach County Building
Code currently under study.
' Mayor Cunningham appointed .Councilman Schwencke and the Village
Manager a committee to study and recommend a vacation and sick leave policy for
employees of the Department of Public Safety.
A request from the Association of Municipalities of Palm Beach County
• for a contribution to be made on the basis of ~2 for each 1 million dollars of
non-exempt real and personal property valuation was approved on motion of Council-
man White, seconded by Vice Mayor Ross, all members voting aye.
The Village Manager reported arrangements had been completed with the
Greyhound Bus Lines whereby eight northbound and eight southbound buses passing
the Village Hall daily world provide transportation beti+reen the Village and West
Palm Beach for Village residents:
On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Councilman White, all
members voting aye, the following list of accounts payable was approved for
payment:
